Culmore Cù Cuhulainns GAA

Culmore Cù Cuhulainns GAA recently celebrated its 3rd birthday with a blitz hosting Ardmore for the under 8’s, under 10’s and our girls teams held at the Culmore Point pitch. The club continues to grow at a rapid rate with more and more children from Culmore proud to represent their parish at Gaelic games.

Covid 19 has restricted our indoor play, however we are grateful for use of the Point pitch which is centrally located in our community for coaching and games. We are also grateful to Culmore Community Patnership for use of the new Culmore Community Hub at Victoria Hall, which is a much needed facility here for us all. We thank the Partnership for their great work so far and look forward to working with them going forward on many more Culmore projects!

Should any girls or boys wish to join our club to take part in a healthy fun filled environment, whilst learning Gaelic games find us on Facebook at Culmore Cù Chulainns GAA or call / text 079717 84367.

We are hoping to meet again in the Victoria Hall in November and discuss our plans for the coming year then. New members are always very welcome. I joined Culmore WI in 1982 as a young mother with 3 boys. I have enjoyed all my time in the WI and learnt many skills. I am master of none but I enjoy trying. My contact number is – 02871359651,

Culmore Local History Group

Following a very successful local history lecture as part of the Culmore Community Festival in 2019, it was decided to set up the Culmore Local History Group. The group was established in September 2019 and met initially in Holy Trinity C.o.I in Culmore. The group is now looking forward to meeting once a month in the newly refurbished Victoria Hall at Culmore Point when it officially reopens.

We are a constituted group separate from but affiliated to Culmore Community Partnership.

The membership of the group reflects the gender and religious make-up of this historical region.

The aim of the group is to explore, research and promote Culmore’s rich history and mythology, a history which stretches from Neolithic times right up to the present day.

We believe that the history of Culmore is very much a living history and consequently we are very keen that the stories of local families, groups and organisations associated with the Culmore area are preserved and promoted.

Our move to Victoria Hall reflects the ongoing development of the story of Culmore. Consequently, we are keen for new members to join us to explore the rich history of the people and the region.

We are looking for old photos, artifacts and stories from the Culmore area, so if you have any old photos or memorabilia of Culmore or its people lurking under the bed in long forgotten shoe boxes we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for new members of all ages, from teenagers to those whose teenage years are but a fond memory, so If you would like to join us or submit material for inclusion in future projects, contact Una Cooper at Culmore Community Hub on 028 7116 3713
